Character

The British Shorthair is a stable cat that is always playful and in good spirits. She is very good with children. This purebred cat is very affectionate towards her family members and often lies on your lap. She prefers you to stay close. When you leave, she dares to follow you closely like a dog. She also loves to hunt and play. Her sweet, cute, pleading eyes make it hard to turn her down.

Appearance

British Shorthairs have a friendly round head, an elegant physique and a thick tail. The short, full bristles of her coat can be of different colors. Cream, red, chocolate brown, blue, and black are popular solid colors. Sometimes the colors are ‘smoke’ or combined with white. There are also tabbies with or without silver in their coat. The eyes are blue, copper or gold in color. And there are also British Shorthairs with two different eye colors.

Other particulars

This pedigree cat is undemanding in handling. Due to her introverted nature, she requires little attention. And if she wants to get your attention, she’ll do it subtly by meowing softly. She’s not really a lap cat, but she likes to be around her owner. So it’s a good idea to put her cat basket and toys in the living area rather than in a separate room. This smart, playful cat likes a bit of a challenge. You can teach her to fetch like a dog. A British Shorthair usually lives 7 to 12 years old.
