Italian Greyhounds are lovely companions who can be very timid and sensitive. They ask for gentle treatment. These loyal and docile dogs are also quite bright. This breed has no problems with cats or other pets. The Italian Greyhound also gets along well with children. They sometimes have a tendency to become a little too submissive when handled harshly.
The elegant Italian Greyhound has a shoulder height of about 32 to 38 cm. Its weight revolves around 4 kg and should not exceed 5 kg. This slender four-legged friend has a very short, satiny coat that is soft to the touch. Various color nuances are possible, such as ‘slate’, ‘isabel’ and black. There may be white spots on the chest and feet.
An Italian Greyhound needs intensive exercise. He feels better after a long walk. He is lively, active and very fast. It is best to keep him on a leash or within a fence. Italian Greyhounds do not thrive in a kennel, as they are quite dependent. They are also not outdoor dogs because they get cold quickly. Their life expectancy is around 13 to 14 years.
